Two complete original Henry Mancini LPs containing movie soundtracks: Hatari! (RCA Victor LSP-2559) and High Time (RCA Victor LSP-2314).
Hatari!, premiered in 1962, was directed by Howard Hawks and starred John Wayne. Its soundtrack introduced the memorable Mancini tune 'Baby Elephant Walk'. The second film, released in 1960, was directed by Blake Edwards (with whom Mancini enjoyed many successful collaborations, including their conjunct work on the Peter Gunn and Pink Panther series films) and starred Bing Crosby. High Time (1960) was a Blake Edwards film scrioted by Garson Kanin, Frank Waldman and Tom Waldman, and starred Bing Crosby.
As a bonus, a wonderful jazz versions of “Baby Elephant Walk” and “The Soft Touch” by such stars as Bobby Hackett, Quincy Jones, and an Eddie Condon small group also featuring Hackett.
